Selena Gomez has become the most followed star on the social media site Instagram.

The pop princess now has more followers than any other person on the photo sharing app.

The sexy brunette is closely followed by her best friend, and  pop/country superstar Taylor Swift in the list of the most followed celebrities.

Selena Gomez confirmed that she is now the most followed person on Instagram with a Snapchat video to her fans.

In the message Gomez says: “Hey guys. I’m officially the number one most followed on Instagram. Thank you!,” she said in the video. (sic).

Selena Gomez’s social media following is off the scale, the singer now has an incredible 69.2m followers on Instagram, 40.3m Twitter followers and over 60m Facebook likes.

Taylor Swift who is the second most followed on Instagram has 69.1m followers on the app, but while Selena wins the Insta battle Taylor comes out on top of the Twitter war, Swift has 72.8m followers on Twitter and she also has more Facebook likes than Gomez, with more than 74m likes.

Selena Gomez is currently promoting her latest single ‘Hands To Myself’ and she will be a guest on Capital FM this Monday from 7 pm.
